Good enough that I (currently) have it as the only compressor I'm using.

The compressor: at a basic level, it is good. It's not the fastest at registering notes, and the display solution is.charming? At any rate, I can't conjure enough criticism of it to consider it a drag on the unit's functionality. It works well enough that if it were the only tuner I had access to, it'd do the job. this year.Ĭlick to expand. So, after spending a fair amount of time with the Photon, I'll try to give a serviceable summation of my thoughts, specifically from the perspective of it being an all-in-one if all someone were to need was compression/tuner/equalization/drive. I guess the long and the short is that I'm kinda hoping this is one of the last pedals I buy. I'm not going to be able to fit all that on a PT1. Otherwise, this, the Juila I have en route, a filter, octave and pitchfactor off the big board. I'm looking at the Photon as being that piece that fills the gaps in the Aftershock and covering any EQ needs I may convince myself I have. Thing is, with the setup I have, it can "accidentally" get out of control very quickly. I am planning on building a small, ultra utility board based mostly around a few Source Audio pedals that are midi controlled and a select few dirt pedals. I've also gotten to the point where I like the pedals I have enough to get out of the trading game. I've always been interested in the non microtubes Darkglass stuff but never pulled the trigger on any of it. My auxiliary board is a looper, a SDRUM and various effects that don't live on the main board and don't go anywhere anyway.

I've got a PT2 FULL of dirt pedals and an amp set up that I am incredibly satisfied with that records very, very well. I moved three states away from all the musicians I know and don't go out enough to meet new ones. My last band, that I am still actively writing with, is spread out all over the country. I'm almost positive that my gigging days are over.

All of which I can incorporate the DG pedals I already have along with a bunch of other effects instead of trying to upgrade ones I already have.Ĭlick to expand.I'm kind of with you on quite a few of those points but for different reasons. I think considering I already have some great DG pedals for dirt I’m better off picking up a hx effects, hx stomp, or maybe even a tc plethora or boss ms3. All the other effects pitch, delay, reverb, and so on. The appeal of the QC to me is having an all in one effects unit. For one because I’ve already dropped well over a grand on darkglass pedals over the years (b7k ultra, the OG Alpha/omega, microtubes X, and the duality) and having a nice amp its not an area where I feel I need to spend a bunch of money. I have enough money set aside now, but I think I’m more likely to grab an hx effects and continue saving to get a quad cortex someday. But I have a nice Mesa rig I really like, and I use a lot of other effects aside from dirt and compression. Good solution for home studio seeing how it can also be used as an interface.

**Sorry international bassists, but US Dealers are not authorized to ship Darkglass pedals outside of the US. Full Manufacturer Warranty still applies. OPEN BOX ITEM: There is one unit which was opened for the purpose of taking product photos. It retains a distinct voice, while cutting through heavy guitar distortion, and simply.fits. Listen to the clip below and hear how great Jon’s bass tone sits in the mix with the guitars. This pedal is a versatility king amongst distortion effect pedals. Beyond that, this exceptional unit has full-out preamp controls allowing a player to dial in their tone further. These two circuits can be used independently or mixed with each other. Two unique circuits for distortion (dubbed Alpha and Omega for the separate circuits) give this preamp additional voicings that set it apart from other distortion pedals on the market. The Alpha Omega DI/Preamp is the result of a cooperative effort between Jon and Darkglass. The talented, all-around musician Jon Stockman (bassist for Karnivool and Floating Me) creates some incredibly hard-hitting metal bass sounds.
